A celebratory launch
In an ideal world, we would celebrate our second birthday surrounded by our community that keeps on growing. Unfortunately, we are forced to adapt to this new way of life. But enough about the elephant in the room.. With Baya Collective we always try our best to create something that will resonate with the people around us. So what better way to celebrate our second birthday than with a 100% locally produced totebag created in collaboration with Souhaila Maalem and Atelier van de Zon!
As a collective, it has always been our main goal to host events and create in a way that makes everyone feel like they’re part of Baya. So we consider this tote as a gift to our incredibly supporting community in the first place. But of course, in order for Baya to keep thriving, some funds are needed. So in that way, we could consider this tote bag as a gift to Baya too - to keep existing.
Every thread of this tote, every word that’s printed on it and the artwork itself, are to us what Baya represents to us. Because it’s not us three that are Baya, all of you are a fibre of Baya’s identity.
On this note we want to end with wishing Baya a happy birthday. May this legacy she’s creating inspire communities around us to gather, love, talk and create.
